Here’s your first unofficial look at the 4.4L Twin-Turbo V8 that will power the 2012 BMW M5 thanks to M5board forums.
BMW unveiled the M5 concept in Shanghai last month and although the concept is pretty much what we can expect to see this fall, BMW did not give us a peak of what will be under the hood. BMW has confirmed that the new M5 will ditch the current V10 engine for the 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 when it officially goes on sale. Although we do know that the new M5 will be powered by a V8, the official specs have not been released. It will be at least 25 percent more fuel efficient than the V10. An all-wheel-drive M5 is also reportedly in the works.
