It’s hard to believe that the smart car has now been around for 20 years and to celebrate the milestone, smart has unveiled the forease concept, which is debuting next week at the Paris Motor Show. According to smart, the forease concept, “interprets and embodies urban driving fun in a refreshing way.”

The smart forease concept is based on the smart EQ fortwo cabrio. It does without a roof, like the crossblade concept from 2001 and 2011’s forspeed concept. The concept also features a shorter windshield to let the air, while the exterior is finished in matt-silver with “stream green” accents. The same green accents are also applied to the interior.

Since the smart brand recently switched to a fully electric lineup, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the forease concept is powered by an electric powertrain.

“The smart forease is proof that smart thinks unconventionally. Its design is reduced and pure,” says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer, Daimler AG. “The smart forease is a statement of urbanity and individual style. It has the coolness of the metropolis and demonstrates a truly free spirit.”
