Sales of the Cadillac CTS dropped four percent last year and now Cadillac is now responding by cutting the price of the CTS sedan by up to $3,000 in addition to adding additional content to some trim levels.
After receiving feedback from both dealers and customers, Cadillac has taken a step back from the big price increase that the CTS received 15 months ago. Cadillac’s dealers were reportedly mad that Cadillac is now pricing its newer models higher to align with BMW and Mercedes, but customers aren’t willing to write the check. Cadillac’s sales fell seven percent last year compared to a six percent increase for the luxury market overall.

The price reduction contrasts Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen’s plan to elevate the brand. In September de Nysschen was asked if Cadillac would cut prices to avoid alienating loyal Cadillac buyers, in which he stated: “That’s not going to happen.”

The top CTS trim levels will get a hefty $3,000 price cut, which for example brings the price of the Premium Collection 3.6-liter V-6 model down to $62,765. Lower trim levels with the 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged engine will get a smaller $2,000 price cut.
