Rolls-Royce is continuing with its plans to introduce its first-ever SUV and now its modified a Phantom Series II to test the future SUV’s suspension.
Rolls-Royce is continuing with its plans to introduce its first-ever SUV and now its modified a Phantom Series II to test the future SUV’s suspension. What you see here is the Project Cullinan, which is an early engineering mule, based on a shortened Phantom Series II body that has been created purely to begin the development of an all-wheel drive suspension system.
The Project Cullinan hints at the size of the upcoming SUV, but it will share no design aspects with the production version. Rolls-Royce says that the mule rides on the first iteration of an all-new suspension that will assist Rolls-Royce engineers in developing a final all-wheel drive system that delivers Rolls-Royce’s hallmark “magic-carpet” ride not only on the road, but off-road too.

So far Rolls-Royce has only released photos of the mule on the road. Test surfaces will include: Belgian Pavé, cobblestones, corrugated concrete, noise development and measurement surfaces, resonance road, and acceleration bumps.
