The Rolls-Royce Dawn maintains the traditional Rolls-Royce design principles – 2:1 wheel height to body height, a long bonnet, short front overhang, a long rear overhang, an elegant tapering rear graphic and a high shoulder line. At the front, the grille is recessed by approximately 45mm whilst the lower front bumper has been extended 53mm compared to Wraith. The rear end of the Dawn echoes the design of early ‘boat tail’ Rolls-Royce drophead coupes.
Inside the Dawn features a 2+2 seating configuration and according to Rolls-Royce, the Dawn’s interior is a full four seater and so there is no compromise in comfort wherever you sit. The fabric roof takes a mere 22 seconds to operate at speeds up to 31 mph and while it is up, Rolls-Royce sought to make the Dawn the quietest convertible car in the world today.
At the heart of the Dawn is a 6.6L V12 engine with 563 horsepower and 575 lb-ft. of torque, making it Rolls-Royce’s most powerful full four-seat drophead motor car to date. The V12 is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Satellite Aided Transmission utilizes GPS data to allow the car to see beyond what the driver sees, anticipating their next move based on location and driving style. The Dawn reaches 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds and has an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.
