Under the hood the CR-Z is still powered by a 1.5L engine that has been updated with changes to the variable valve timing system and Engine Control Unit (ECU). Its output has been increased from 112-hp to 119-hp. The electric motor has also been improved and the CR-Z now uses a lithium-ion battery. The electric motor now puts out more power and the combined system now puts out 135 horsepower.
