Land Rover has released the first details about the new hybrid versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, which will arrive in the UK in early 2014.
Land Rover has released the first details about the new hybrid versions of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, which will arrive in the UK in early 2014. The two hybrids will be the world’s first premium diesel SUV hybrids, with a 3.0L diesel engine mated to an electric motor.
The new Range Rover Hybrid powertrain features three driver-selectable modes and combines Land Rover’s 3.0L SDV6 diesel engine with a 35kW electric motor integrated with the 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The hybrid system, including lithium ion battery pack, inverter and electric motor weighs less than 120kg. the total system puts out 335 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque.
Both models accelerate reach 0-62mph in under seven seconds, have a top speed of 135mph, combined with a 26 percent reduction in CO2 emissions and up to 44.1 mpg on the European combined cycle.
