You may or may not have noticed, but Ram still sells the last-generation Ram 1500, which it calls the 1500 Classic. It’s a cheaper alternative to the regular Ram 1500 and now it looks like Ram is keeping it around for at least one more year.

CarsDirect is reporting that the Ram 1500 Classic will still be offered for the 2021 model year, with a price tag starting at $31,145. That gets you the Ram 1500 Tradesman 4×2 Regular Cab, which is about $3,800 than the cheapest 2021 Ram 1500 you can buy, the Tradesman 4×2 Quad Cab, which starts at $33,940.

Some buyers may have wondered why Fiat-Chrysler is still building the old Ram 1500, but that $3,800 price difference makes it easier for buyers to get in the full-size pickup. It also entices midsize pickup buyers, since Ram doesn’t currently offer a rival to the Ford Ranger or Toyota Tacoma.
