A few months ago FCA confirmed plans to introduce a new midsize Ram pickup that will rival other pickups, like the Chevy Colorado, Ford Ranger, and Toyota Tacoma. The truck will reportedly arrive in 2020 as a 2021 model and now we’ve learned that it will be built in Ohio, alongside the Jeep Scrambler pickup.

According to sources, the midsize Ram pickup will ride on a body-on-frame platform, like the Jeep Wrangler-based pickup. Automotive News is reporting that about half of FCA’s Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio has been shut for retooling since late April, when the last JK Wranglers rolled off the line. The plant is expected to come fully back online soon, but FCA doesn’t expect the Jeep pickup to sell in large numbers, so the Ram pickup will fill the remaining production capacity.

While FCA has confirmed the new Ram midsize pickup, we still don’t know what it will be called.
