The 2019 Ram 1500 pickup recently aced the six crashworthiness tests that the Insurance Insurance Institute for Highway Safety put it through, but it missed out on the coveted Top Safety Pick rating.

The IIHS announced that the 2019 Ram 1500 received a good rating in its crashworthiness tests, which includes the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, passenger-side small overlap, side, roof strength and head restraints tests. The previous generation of the Ram 1500 only received the lower marginal rating in the driver-side small overlap front test and the roof strength test.

The optional Ram 1500’s optional front crash prevention system also earned a superior rating, since in its track tests at 12 mph and 25 mph, the vehicle avoided a crash.

Unfortunately the 2019 Ram 1500 missed out on the a Top Safety Pick award because its best available headlights earned only a marginal rating.
