Porsche is gearing up for the introduction of the electric Porsche Taycan, which is slated to begin in 2019. To build the highly anticipated electric car, Porsche is adding 1,200 new jobs to its plant in Zuffenhausen, which is part of a six billion euro investment.

“The Taycan is one of biggest creators of jobs in the history of Porsche,” stated Andreas Haffner, Member of the Executive Board responsible for HR and Social Affairs. Not all the new employees will build the Taycan, since Porsche also says that the new staff will be used to build two-door sports cars as well.

“We predict that over 50 percent of Porsche models delivered from 2025 will be electrified,” states Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and Member of the Board responsible for Finance and IT at Porsche.

Porsche has also revealed that it introduce a new more efficient production method for the Taycan as well. “By applying flexi-line production, Porsche will become the first vehicle manufacturer to use driverless transport systems in a continuous series production process.” The new process will also allow for more work cycles in the same amount of space.
