We’re getting closer and closer to the debut of Porsche’s first fully electric car, the Taycan and now it’s announced that it will come with free charging. The Porsche Taycan will arrive with three years of free charging across the US.
Porsche has teamed up with Electrify America to give Taycan owners access to a growing number of fast chargers. Electrify America’s charging stations will offer DC fast charging at rates up to 350 kilowatts. Using 800 volt technology and the combined charging system (CCS) plug, the Taycan will be able to add more than 60 miles of range in only four minutes.
“Every Porsche is a sports car with soul, and the Taycan is soul electrified,” said Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of PCNA. “Together, Electrify America and our Porsche dealer network will provide a national infrastructure for DC fast charging that frees future Taycan owners from range anxiety. And Porsche home charging technology will turn the customer’s garage into the equivalent of a personal gas station.”
Taycan owners will receive three years of unlimited 30-minute charging at Electrify America’s more than 300 highway stations in 42 states as well as more than 180 sites in 17 metro areas. In addition Porsche has announced that its 191 Porsche dealerships in the US will install DC fast charging. More than 120 of these dealerships will feature Porsche Turbo Charging that delivers up to 320 kW, while the remaining dealerships will install 50 kW fast chargers.
Porsche also recently announced that it is doubling the number of Taycan electric cars that it will build each year from 20,000 units to 40,000.
