Porsche currently offers three plug-in hybrid models, the 918 Spyder and the Cayenne and Panamera S E-Hybrid models, but could Porsche release other plug-in hybrids? Porsche has placed emphasis on vehicle electrification, which means that the rest of Porsche’s lineup could soon offer a plug-in hybrid system, including the new Macan.
Porsche sales and marketing executive Julian Baumann recently spoke to Motoring where he stated, “”Nothing has been decided for Macan. [But] If there is market demand or legal [emissions] requirements we are ready to react.”

If a Macan plug-in hybrid does get the green light, it will likely be called the Macan S E-Hybrid and it will most likely borrow the 416-hp plug-in hybrid system from the Cayenne and Panamera.

Baumann also confirmed that there are no plans for a two-door version of the Macan, “We studied it – that’s our job. But for us a two-door version is not an option. There’s no need to have a two-door. It would only have disadvantages.”
