Porsche is on track to introduce the Mission E electric car by the end of 2019, likely as a 2020 model. CAR Magazine recently caught up with Porsche CEO Oliver Blume, who revealed more details about the production version of the Mission E concept, including its price, styling and some early powertrain specs.
The Mission E concept debuted in 2015 and it was immediately saw as a Tesla Model S rival. Two years after its debut, Porsche is sticking to its goal of putting the Mission E in production by the end of the decade. When it does go on sale, the Mission E will start around the same price as the base Porsche Panamera, which currently starts at $85k.
In terms of styling, there will be some updates, but it will still look like the original concept. “It is very close to what you saw two years ago at Frankfurt. It will be exciting but a bit different from the concept.”
The Mission E will be able to reach 62 mph in a quick 3.5 seconds with a top speed over 155 mph. Different power outputs will also be offered. After a quick 15 minutes plugged into a 350 kW fast charger will give the Mission E 250 miles of range on an 80% charge.
