Despite the coronovirus, Polestar has announced that it has started production of the Polestar 2 electric car in Luqiao, China. The first batch of Polestar 2 EVs will be delivered in Europe first, which will then be followed by China and North America.

Polestar 2 Production

“The world is facing enormous upheaval in the face of the coronavirus pandemic,” comments Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath. “We start production now under these challenging circumstances with a strong focus on the health and safety of our people. This is a great achievement and the result of huge efforts from the staff in the factory and the team securing the supply chain. I have a huge amount of respect for the entire team – thanks to them!”

The Polestar 2 has a driving range up to 292 miles on Europe’s WLTP cycle. The electric powertrain generates a total 408 horsepower and 487 lb-ft. of torque that’s sent to all four wheels.

The pricing for the Polestar 2 starts at 39,900 Euros in Europe, but Polestar has not announced the starting price in the US. Right now the only version that we have pricing for in the US is the Launch Edition, which starts at $63,000.
