Polestar has announced that it is now taking deposits for the Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid coupe. The pre-orders are now being taken in 18 countries and you can put your name on the list with a $2,500 deposit.
“With over 7,000 people interested in owning a Polestar 1 since its reveal, we are extremely encouraged by the passion shown for our product. We will now take the next steps towards delivering this beautiful car to our first customers,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer of Polestar.
Pre-ordering is now available in the following 18 countries: China, United States, Sweden, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Portugal, Poland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Canada.
If you want to get one, it would be best to put your deposit down now, since Polestar only plans to build 500 Polestar 1 models a year. You can also play with the new car configuration tool to build it out the way you’d want it before you place your pre-order.
Polestar hasn’t announced the pricing for the Polestar 1, since it plans to offer it via a subscription model, like Volvo’s new Car by Volvo program. The program makes the process easy, since you simply pay a monthly fee for the car that covers the car, insurance and maintenance. Polestar is thinking about selling the Polestar 1, but it hasn’t made a final decision.
The first deliveries of the Polestar 1 will start in 2019.
