The Nissan Leaf is the best selling electric vehicle yet since Nissan has sold over 300,000 units since it was introduced in 2010. Even with the growing competition, Nissan is hoping that it stay on top of the segment and to do that, Nissan has announced that it will introduce eight new electric vehicles by 2022.

Nissan wants to sell 1 million electrified vehicles a year by 2022, but to do that it needs to introduce a range of new vehicles for both the Nissan and Infiniti brands. Nissan has already confirmed that its next EV will be an electric crossover based on last year’s IMx concept. Nissan is also working on an affordable EV for China and two further electric vehicle derivatives are also being prepared for the Venucia brand. The first electric Infiniti models will arrive by 2021 and Nissan plans to expand its e-POWER hybrid technology that’s already offered on the Nissan Note and Nissan Serena in Japan.

Beyond just introducing more electrified vehicles, Nissan also plans to expand the availability of ProPilot autonomous driving technology, which will be offered in 20 models in 20 markets by 2022. Nissan recently announced that the 2019 Altima will be the third model to get it, which we’ll get to see this week in New York.

Lastly Nissan wants to offer connectivity for 100% of its lineup by 2022.
