Nissan continues to expand its NISMO lineup and now it is teasing a new NISMO version of the Sentra, the Sentra NISMO concept. Anyone who’s driven the Sentra knows that it is not sporty at all, but the NISMO concept adds some much needed “performance” into the mix.

The 2014 Sentra makes due with a 130-horsepower 1.8L engine, but the Sentra NISMO Concept borrows the new JUKE NISMO RS’s 1.8L turbocharged engine that produces an estimated 240 horsepower and more than 240 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Nissan has also upgraded the suspension with custom performance shocks and springs and the concept rides on wide 19-inch RAYS wheels.

Other changes include an updated face with a wide lower grille and a wide lower front spoiler. Along the sides of the concept it gets oversized fender flares and integrated side sills flowing into a deep-skirted rear fascia accentuated by large dual exhaust tips. It also gets a custom rear spoiler and there are plenty of NISMO badges to let you know that this isn’t a typical Sentra.

Inside the Sentra NISMO concept gets Recaro seats with custom black leather and Alcantara trim. The rear seats are treated to a mix of perforated black Alcantara in a similar pattern to the front seats. Alcantara is also used for the pillars and headliner.

“Fans have asked that we bring back a high-performance Sentra straight from the factory, just like in generations past,” said Nissan Vice President of Product Planning, Pierre Loing. “With NISMO, our in-house motorsports arm already producing versions of the 370Z NISMO, JUKE NISMO, JUKE NISMO RS and upcoming GT-R NISMO, we wanted to demonstrate where we could go in the future.”
