Nissan 370Z fans may be wondering when Nissan will introduce a new Z-car, but sadly Nissan doesn’t have anything in the works. There was a rumor that a new Nissan Z would debut next month at the Tokyo Motor Show, but that rumor has been quickly put to rest.
Nissan Australia managing director Richard Emery revealed to Motoring that there won’t be a new Z at the Tokyo show and that Nissan isn’t even working on a new one right now.
“And we would know if there was something pending, so there’s nothing pending. Not any time soon.”
It was reported earlier this year, by Car and Driver that Nissan would reveal a new sports car concept at the Tokyo Motor Show that would be a preview of the next Z. The magazine even reported that the new Nissan Z would arrive in early 2019 and be based on a modified version of the platform that’s the basis for the Infiniti Q60. A hybrid model was also reportedly in the works.
For now Nissan has only given the 2018 Nissan 370Z a slight refresh.
“It’s certainly at the end of its life cycle, but whether it’s got two years left or four years left, at this point I don’t have anything to the contrary to suggest it’s not got a few more years left in it,” stated Richard Emery.
