Next-Generation Acura NSX is Going to FInally Lead to More RWD Vehicles from Acura

The next-generation Acura NSX has been a long time coming. Originally it was believed that Acura was going to unveil the all-new NSX at the Tokyo Auto Show last fall. But due to an overwhelming amount of criticism of the Advanced Sports Car Concept (pictured here), upon which the NSX is based, designers were sent back to the drawing board.

Now Autocar has apparently received an inside tip that the next NSX is going to be unveiled at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show. The NSX is going to feature a new front end that is supposed to be very “Corvette-like”, whatever that means.

In addition to the return of the NSX there are rumors that the NSX is going to eventually lead to more rear-wheel-drive vehicles from Acura, finally! This means that Acura might finally have what it takes to go head to head with BMW, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti. Supposedly in the works is a new larger sedan to go against the BMW 7-Series and an S-2000 based Acura sports car to go against the Mercedes SLK. Currently the rumor is that the new large sedan wont make it into dealerships until 2015. That seems like a really long time away…lets hope that is exaggerated.

The 2010/2011 NSX is going to feature a front-mounted 4.5L V10 engine with around 550 horsepower.
