Toyota has confirmed that a new Toyota Corolla will arrive next year and according to Toyota, it’s going to be a big change from the current model. Bill Fay, general manager for the Toyota and Scion brands in the U.S. recently told WardsAuto that some people within Toyota feel that the change is even bigger than the Avalon’s recent “metamorphosis.” The 2013 Toyota Avalon has ditched its previously boxy styling for a “sexy” coupe-like design.
The Corolla hasn’t had a redesign since the end of 2007, when Toyota launched a new Corolla that wasn’t a huge departure from the one before it. Since it’s last redesign, Ford, Chevy and Hyundai have all released new compact sedans that beat the Corolla in terms of style and content. Either way, the Corolla has still managed to hold its ground by continuing to land in the “top-selling” list month after month.
