Fiat Chrysler Automobiles made a lot of announcements this morning about what we can expect from the Jeep, Ram, Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands. While we didn’t get a lot of details about the future of the Fiat brand, FCA did confirm that a new 500e electric car and 500 wagon are in the works.

In 2020, Fiat will release a new 500e electric car and a wagon version of the 500, called the Fiat 500 Giardiniera. The 500e and 500 Giardiniera will be sold alongside the 500L and 500X models, which will get hybrid versions.

As part of its presentation this morning, Fiat announced that it will build four EV platforms that will be used by its future EV lineup: City car, mainstream, performance and premium. The Fiat 500e will get the “city car” EV powertrain. We don’t know yet what kind of driving range we can expect from the 2020 Fiat 500e.

It’s not known what the future holds for Fiat in the United States, since there have been rumors that the brand might be pulled out of the United States.
