It’s being reported that the designs of the next-generation Chevrolet Volt, Malibu and Cruze will all borrow styling cues from the Corvette. Ed Welburn, GM’s global design boss recently revealed that subtle design elements from the Corvette will be leveraged to elevate the design of some of its less sporty models.
“I always look at the hood of the Corvette and the sectioning, the way it’s taut, very lean, very sporty,” Welburn told Automotive News. “That will be a part of really everything we do for Chevrolet.”

The first model to borrow cues from the Corvette will be the next-generation 2016 Volt, which is going to debut next month at the Detroit Auto Show.

In addition to the Corvette’s hood, its squared-off taillights will also be inspiration for other Chevrolet models.

“In the past,” he said, “we never really took advantage of iconic vehicles like Camaro and Corvette the way we are today.”
