It’s being reported that the next-generation Ford Mustang will ditch the current model’s retro styling in an attempt to steal sales away from the Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger. Ford hopes that a new less retro-themed exterior will attract a younger generation that isn’t attracted to the current Mustang.

Ford Mustang sales are down and the Chevy Camaro continues to find more buyers, which has prompted Ford to rethink the styling of the next Mustang that is expected to be released in 2014 as a 2015 model. Ford feels that the Mustang’s retro-styling doesn’t appeal to a younger generation, so according to The Wall Street Journal, the next Mustang will take styling cues from the Evos concept and 2013 Fusion. The next Mustang reportedly looks very close to the Evos concept, but the current Mustang’s round headlights and protruding hood will continue to be used.

What do you think? Is the Evos concept a good starting point for the next Mustang?
