The next-generation Ford F-150 is expected to enter production in July 2014 and to prevent any supply disruptions, Ford is going to continue producing the current F-150 alongside the new one for at least six months. The F-150 is the top-selling vehicle in the U.S., so Ford doesn’t want to risk any production hiccups that could put that title in jeopardy.
Sales of full size pickups are increasing at almost three times the pace of the overall industry, so Ford cannot risk any production issues that would cause buyers to head over to a Chevy or Ram showroom instead.

Ford hasn’t released any details about the next F-150, but earlier this year Ford showed off the Atlas concept, which is a hint at what we can expect from the next F-150. The new F-150 is expected to be much lighter than the current model with some reports even claiming that it could be around 700 pounds lighter, thanks to the higher use of aluminum.
