It’s been rumored that GM has been thinking about a new name for the next-generation Chevy Aveo, but GM has yet to officially confirm it. The current Aveo name has a lackluster image associated with it, so according to GM Inside News, GM has decided to rename the all-new subcompact that is scheduled to be released next year.

GM’s new marketing chief, Joel Ewanick, has decided to rename the subcompact and sources are claiming that GM has chosen the name “Chevy Sonic.”

US trademark records also show that GM filed for a trademark of the name on October 5th.
