Lincoln has announced the release of a new head-up display that will be available on the new Lincoln Continental. Lots of automakers now offer the technology on their vehicles, but Lincoln says that its new system is the brightest display available – you can even see it with polarized sunglasses on.

The technology behind the system is called Digital Light Projection, which is the same technology that movie theaters use. The technology dates back to the late 1980s, but didn’t arrive in theaters until the late 1990s. This is the first time the technology is being used in a head-up display.

In addition to being the brightest system available, drivers can also customize what information the system displays. The system can display anything from the outside temperature, to the adaptive cruise control status, navigation directions and even incoming calls.
