Honda has been making headlines lately due to its upcoming diesel engines that will first be offered in the all-new Accord (US). Acura on the other hand has remained quiet. Currently Acura does not have a hybrid or a diesel in its lineup to attract the “green” shoppers and to remain competitive with its competitors.

This will change in 2010 according to Japanese newspaper, Nikkei. Currently Honda is working on adapting the 2.2L 4-cylinder diesel for the US market and the automaker is also working on a V6 diesel for its larger vehicles. One our both of these engines could make it into the current Acura lineup by 2010.

The V6 diesel would be a prime candidate for the RL, TL and MDX vehicles. The 4 cylinder diesel would be a great option on the next TSX and the RDX SUV.
