We’ve already seen a few spy photos of the upcoming next-generation Toyota Sequoia. Now Brenda Priddy’s crew has caught some more shots of the new SUV that will be based on the same platform as the new Tundra.

The new Seqouia is all new and will offer the same engine options as the Tundra pickup, the 4.7L and 5.7L V8s.

According to the photographers both the SR5 and Limited models of the SUV were being tested. The Limited model was hitched to a trailer. The new Seqouia is expected to rival GM’s full-size SUVs in terms of size and power. It remains to be seen if Toyota is also working on a hybrid version of this large SUV. GM has already announced plans to release hybrid versions of its full-size SUVs, so it will be interesting to see how Toyota responds. It is rumored that the automaker is currently working on a hybrid powertrain for the Tundra that will be released as a 2010 model.

Production of the new Sequoia should start by the end of the year and they should start arriving in showrooms by next Spring. It is not known if the Sequoia will be a 2008 or 2009.
