Mitsubishi just launched its new Mirage subcompact hatchback in the U.S., which starts under $13k and gets up to 44 mpg. Mitsubishi execs are currently mulling the idea of bringing the sedan version that is sold in other markets to the U.S.
Mitsubishi’s lineup is currently beyond aged and even though the small Mirage is powered by a three-cylinder engine, it gives Mitsubishi showrooms a fresh model. Mitsubishi’s execs are currently waiting to see how well the hatchback does here before a decision is made to bring the sedan version to the U.S. as well. Mitsubishi currently only expects to sell 600 units a month of the Mirage hatchback, but it remains to be seen if U.S. buyers will be willing to write a check for the hatchback, which is powered by a 74 horsepower three-cylinder engine.
