MINI has released the first two teasers of its new electric car that is going to arrive in 2019. The MINI electric car will be the first volume-produced electric car from MINI and will be based on the MINI 3-door.
These two sketches provide a teaser of how the grille and rims will look on MINI’s new electric car. The grille’s shape is similar to the other MINI models, but it doesn’t have any openings for air to pass through, since it doesn’t need to help cool a conventional engine.
The design of the rims feature an asymmetric design that mimics the wheels that were used on last year’s MINI Electric concept.
“MINI is an urban brand and the fully-electric MINI the logical next step into the future,” says Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. “These initial sketches for the fully electrified MINI outline our vision of authentic design creating a bridge between the history of the brand and its electric future.”
The yet to be named MINI electric car will be built at BMW’s plant in Oxford, while its electric drivetrain will be produced at BMW’s Dingolfing and Landshut plants.
