MINI has already announced plans to release a new electric car in 2019 and now we’re getting a preview of the new EV with the debut of the MINI Electric Concept.

MINI Electric Concept

The Electric Concept brings the iconic MINI styling and fun-to-drive appeal that we’ve love about the MINI brand to the EV segment. The Electric Concept has been designed for use in urban areas.

On the outside the styling is clearly a new modern/ EV interpretation of the current MINI Cooper hatchback. Changes include a new hexagonal grille and circular headlights. The grille features a Striking Yellow accent bar with an E badge and since the electric motor requires very little cooling, the traditional air intakes are closed. “MINI E” badges are also integrated into the radiator grille and exterior mirror caps.

At the rear the LED taillights each form one half of the Union Jack as an LED dot matrix. The rear also gets air deflectors and a fiberglass diffuser.

“The systematic electrification of the brand and product portfolio is a mainstay of the BMW Group’s NUMBER ONE > NEXT strategy. The MINI Electric Concept offers a thrilling preview of the all-electric production vehicle. MINI and electrification make a perfect match,” remarks Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.
