According to Mercedes-Benz US CEO Ernst Lied, the CLK coupe is going to die after the 2010 model year. Its replacement will be based off the next-generation E-Class sedan that is set to be released in mid-2009.

The larger E-Class coupe and convertible will draw inspiration from the ConceptFASCINATION that was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show earlier this year. The coupe is going to debut at the same time as the sedan, next year and the convertible will debut in 2010.

Reportedly Mercedes-Benz decided to go with an E-Class coupe to better compete with the Audi A5. It’s rumored that Mercedes is going to replace the CLC (C-Class Hatchback) with a C-Class coupe in 2010.
