It’s being reported that the Mercedes-Benz is getting ready to resurrect the Maybach sub-brand with the debut of a new sedan at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month. According to Car and Driver, the new Maybach will be a stretched version of the S-Class that will be around 18 feet long, which will place it between the S550 and the previous Maybach 57.
Gordon Wagener, Mercedes’ head of global design revealed that the Maybach will look close to the S-Class pictured here. It will also likely be powered by a V12 engine with rear-wheel-drive and a Magic Body Control suspension.

Wagener also described Mercedes Maybach sub-brand as the embodiment of automotive “haute couture,” as the brand attempts to take on Bentley and Rolls-Royce. In the future Maybach will act as a sub-brand for Mercedes much in the same way as Mercedes-AMG, which means that more models will eventually arrive with the Maybach name.
