Mercedes-Benz is Thinking About a 4-Cylinder C-Class for the US

Currently Mercedes-Benz does not offer a 4-cylinder C-Class in the US. This may all change due to the high gas prices and new CAFE regulations.

Mercedes already offers the C-Class with a 4-cylinder in Europe. The C180 Kompressor is powered by a supercharged 1.8L 4-cyl that puts out 154 horsepower. Supposedly the automaker is already testing a supercharged 1.4L. There is no word if the 1.4L will eventually replace the 1.8L in Europe.

If a 4-cylinder C-Class is eventually offered in the US, it will start under the V6 powered C300.
