Mercedes-Benz continues to build out its EQ sub-brand of electric vehicles. Charging infrastructure is still an issue for most EV owners, so Mercedes-Benz is going to try to make it easier to find a charger with the creation of its own charging network.
Mercedes has announced that it will install more than 10,000 chargers across North America, Europe, China and a few other markets. North America will be the first market to get the new chargers, with the goal to have the full network in place by the end of the decade.
The automaker is teaming up with MN8 Energy and ChargePoint to create the charging network. By 2027, a network totaling more than 400 hubs across North America with more than 2,500 high-power chargers is planned.
The charging network is mainly for Mercedes-Benz owners, who will get preferential access via a reservation function and other benefits. Although Mercedes-Benz owners, but the good news is that the network will also be open to drivers of all other brands.
