McLaren has revealed that it is working on a new entry-level supercar that is known internally as the P13. The P13 will take styling cues from the McLaren P1, but in a more compact package that will allow it to compete with the top versions of the 911 and the upcoming replacement for the Mercedes SLS AMG.
The P13 is expected to go on sale in 2015 and will be be powered by a detuned version of the V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo that powers the MP4-12C. The P13 is expected to have around 450 horsepower, which is a significant drop from the 616 horsepower in the MP4-12C.
We could see the production version of the P13 as early as next year’s Paris Motor Show.
