Yesterday Mazda got us all excited when it said that it was debuting something “big” at today’s New York Auto Show, well the joke’s on us. Instead of unveiling a concept version of its new midsize crossover, Mazda has unveiled a slightly updated 2019 Mazda CX-3.

Mazda says that the mission statement for the updated 2019 CX-3 was “Exquisite and Edgy.” The goal was to not only provide some slight styling updates, but to also improve the responsiveness of its engine and add more upscale materials on the inside. Starting with the outside, the 2019 Mazda CX-3 gets a restyled front grille, new chrome and piano black accents and updated LED taillights. The 2019 CX-3 also rides on new 18-inch wheels.

Inside the interior gets a new center console and redesigned armrests. Thanks to a new electronic parking brake there’s more room for the cupholders and storage in the center console. The CX-3’s front seats have also been redesigned and are now wider and more supportive.

The 2019 CX-3 is still powered by a 2.0L engine, but the engine has been retuned for more torque across its entire RPM range and to improve efficiency. The 2.0L engine generates 148 horsepower and 148 lb-ft. of torque.

The 2019 Mazda CX-3 goes on sale this spring.
