When Mazda introduced the MX-30 EV last year, we were confused about Mazda’s decision to introduce an electric vehicle with only 100 miles of range. Most new EVs can do triple that amount of range. Well it looks like Mazda has gotten the hint, since the MX-30 will disappear from its US lineup after 2023.

2023 Mazda MX-30

Mazda didn’t site any reasons for discontinuing the MX-30, but instead says that it’s focusing its U.S. electrification efforts on large platform plug-in hybrids, like the CX-90 PHEV, upcoming CX-70 PHEV. It’s also working on a CX-50 hybrid.

In 2021 Mazda announced plans to introduce three battery electric vehicles and five plug-in hybrid models. With the disappearance of the MX-30, we’re not sure if those plans have changed.
