We already knew this, but Mazda has officially confirmed that its upcoming compact crossover will be called the Mazda CX-5.

Mazda gave us a sneak peak at what we can expect the CX-5 to look like with the Minagi Concept that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, last month. The crossover will be the first Mazda to incorporate Mazda’s new design theme, ‘KODO – Soul of Motion.’ The design theme debuted on the Shinari concept.

The CX-5 will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September, with sales starting in early 2012.
