Maserati is moving ahead with its plans for electrifying its entire lineup, but that doesn’t mean that its existing nameplates will continue. Earlier this year, Maserati’s head of product planning stated, “We strongly believe that there is a future for the sedan, but probably not for two sedans. One will be enough to meet demand.” So what does that mean? Well it looks like the Ghibli will not be sticking around much longer.
Maserati’s Australian general manager Grant Barling recently told Australia’s Drive that “The Ghibli will move into run-out phase into 2024.” While the Ghibli as we know it today will not be around much longer, Maserati plans to basically combine both its sedans, the Ghibli and Quattroporte into one. With the next generation Quattroporte being about the same size as the Ghibli.
Sadly when the Ghibli disappears it will also mark the end of the Ferrari-sourced twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8.
