Lincoln is going to expand the number of models in its lineup later this decade as it attempts to become a full-line luxury brand. This means that all of Ford’s platforms could be used for new Lincoln vehicles, including the new Ford Mustang platform.
The first new model was the 2014 MKZ sedan, followed by the 2015 MKC crossover. An all-new 2016 MKX crossover is expected to arrive next year, which will be followed by a new full-size sedan that will replace the current MKS sedan.

Edmunds recently spoke to Matt VanDyke, global head of marketing, sales and service for Lincoln, where he stated, “We know that we need to get into other segments with other vehicles.” When asked about the possibility of developing a sports car off the 2015 Mustang platform, CanDyke stated, “Sure. We won’t rule out anything.”
