Last week reports starting circulating about the 2021 Lexus IS. While an all-new IS isn’t coming soon, the 2021 IS is slated to get a big refresh. Now a new report claims that Lexus is preparing a V8-powered IS, but it won’t be called the IS F.
allcarnews is reporting on Instagram, that the refreshed 2021 IS is going to introduce a new version called the IS 500. If the report is accurate, the 2021 IS 500 will be powered by a naturally-aspirated V8. But, it was reported last week that the IS 500 may get the same twin-turbocharged V6 as the LS 500.
For some reason it’s not going to be called the IS F, but if the IS 500 does get the 5.0-liter V8 it will be powered by the same engine as the RC F, where it generates 472 horsepower.
Lexus hasn’t made any announcements about the 2021 Lexus IS, so we’ll have to wait and see if the IS 500 is actually coming and if it will get a V6 or the old-school 5.0-liter V8.
