Lexus has announced plans for a dedicated hybrid model for the UK and Japanese markets. The hybrid will be Lexus’ most affordable hybrid and will be priced between the IS and RX 400h SUV.

According to Steve Settle, head of Lexus UK “Hybrid is the brand-defining technology for Lexus.” Hybrids account for more than 70 percent of the brand’s sales in the UK.

There is no word if the car will be sold in the US and what platform the new hybrid will be built on. Toyota also recently announced plans for a second dedicated hybrid for their lineup as well. It could be possible that both these new hybrids will be built on the same platform that will be larger than the current Toyota Prius.
