Land Rover has officially taken the wraps off the 2020 Range Rover Evoque. The new Evoque keeps its familiar shape, but gets several styling cues that are inspired by the larger Velar.

The 2020 Range Rover Evoque is about the same size as the previous generation, but it now rides on Land Rover’s new Premium Transverse Architecture, which gives it more interior room than before. The wheelbase has been stretched by 20 mm to give it extra rear kneeroom and more storage capacity.

The new platform also introduces new electrified versions of the 2020 Evoque, with a 48-volt mild-hybrid available immediately and a new plug-in hybrid coming in about a year. The new 48-volt hybrid system features an engine-mounted starter generator that can assist the engine when pulling away from a stop and also let the engine shut off at speeds below 11 mph.

The 2020 Evoque also introduces new three- and four-cylinder Ingenium gas and diesel engines as well. The future plug-in hybrid powertrain will use the three-cylinder engine. In the US the 2020 Evoque will be offered with the 296-hp mild-hybrid powertrain or a 246-hp four-cylinder.

Inside the 2020 Evoque’s interior has been enhanced with a cleaner, minimalistic design. There are also new technologies, like the twin touchscreen Touch Pro Duo system. There’s also an available ClearSight rear-view mirror that transforms the regular rearview mirror into an HD video screen that gives the driver a clearer view of what’s behind the Evoque.

The 2020 Range Rover Evoque also gets Land Rover’s new Ground View technology that essentially makes the hood disappear by projecting camera imagery onto the upper touchscreen to show the driver a 180-degree view under the front of the vehicle.

Land Rover has announced that the 2020 Range Rover Evoque will start at £31,600 in the UK, but here in the US we will have to wait until the new Evoque debuts at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show in February to get more details.
