Land Rover has unveiled the updated 2014 Discovery, which will go on sale in the UK in November. The 2014 Discovery gets updates like a new V6 engine, refreshed styling and improved technology.
The 2014 Discovery gets a new face in addition to a few other exterior updates. A new front grille, new front bumper, new headlamp design, new daytime running lights with a distinctive LED signature, plus two new alloy wheel designs, further enhance the Discovery’s appearance. The refreshed exterior design for 2014 also incorporates a change of identity for the vehicle in many markets. For the first time ever, the name ‘Discovery’ name replaces ‘Land Rover’ on the bonnet and the number 4 will be removed from the tailgate leaving just the word “Discovery.”
The previous 5.0L V8 engine has now been replaced with a new 3.0L supercharged V6 with stop-start technology that is mated to an eight-speed ZF transmission. The 335 horsepower engine accelerates the Discovery from 0-62 mph in 8.1 seconds with a top speed 121 mph. A 3.0L diesel engine is also available.
The 2014 Discovery also gets a new range of driver assistance, comfort and safety features including: Wade Sensing (a technology unique to Land Rover), Blind Spot Monitoring, Closing Vehicle Sensing, Reverse Traffic Detection and T-junction Cameras.
