Land Rover is reportedly open to adding a halo model to the Range Rover lineup, which would take on the ultra luxurious Bentley Bentayga. Land Rover’s design chief Gerry McGovern revealed last month that a new model to sit on top of the Range Rover lineup is a possibility.
“Why not? We’ve realized that the Range Rover has got this big expanse across its price range, so it’s not a very big step to get into Bentayga country.”
Although Land Rover hasn’t decided on a new range topping Range Rovef, McGovern wants to add more models to the Range Rover lineup beyond the Range Rover, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Velar models. Even if some of the models overlap in terms of size, Gerry McGovern doesn’t see that as an issue.
“I would argue you could have two Range Rovers exactly the same size but if they had two personalities then they would both have equal appeal but to different customers,” he said.
