Kia has been slowly increasing its number of electrified models in its lineup and although we already have the electric Niro and soon the fully electric Soul, Kia is getting ready for more. A new report out of China is reporting that Kia is readying a fully electric version of the K3, which is known here as the Forte.

2020 Kia Forte GT

According to Chinese website Autohome, Kia is going to reveal a fully electric K3 this summer with a 56.5 kWh battery and a 181 horsepower electric motor. On the outdated NEDC cycle it will reportedly have a driving range over 300 miles. It’s not known yet if the electric K3 will come to the US, but if it does it will likely have an EPA certified driving range around 200 miles.

On top of that, Kia is also reportedly working on a plug-in hybrid K3.

As of right now it’s not known if the new electrified versions of the K3 will be offered here in the Forte’s lineup. Given the fact that Hyundai just unveiled a hybrid version of the new Elantra, the Forte’s cousin, there’s a strong chance that at some point we will have at least a Forte Hybrid soon.
