Kia is reportedly going to reveal the next-generation 2020 Kia Soul and Soul EV models next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Kia has yet to make the official announcement, but according to The Korean Car Blog, the 2020 Soul will go on sale in the second quarter of 2019. The report also claims that the new Soul EV will only be offered in Europe, which is an interesting move given the industries push to add more electric vehicles.
The 2020 Kia Soul will share its DNA with the Hyundai Kona, which means we can also expect it to offer the same engine options as the Kona. The base version will likely be powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft. of torque. For buyers that want more power the Kona’s turbocharged 1.6L engine with 175 hp and 195 lb-ft. will also be offered. If that is the case, the turbocharged engine in the 2020 Soul will actually generate less power than the 2019 Soul with its 201-hp turbocharged 1.6L engine.
The good news is that all-wheel drive will finally be optional for the first time.
Based on the spy photos that we’ve seen of the 2020 Kia Soul, the overall shape isn’t going to change, but its front fascia will look more modern with slimmer headlights.
