When new car buyers enter a showroom, the chances are high today that they will likely drive off the lot in either a crossover or sedan, which is bad news for the coupe segment. We now have our latest victim, the two-door Kia Forte Koup, which is now done after two generations.

“To better align with our customers’ purchasing trends, KMA will discontinue the two-door Koup following the sell-down of remaining 2016 model year inventory,” Kia spokesman James Hope recently told CarsDirect.

The Kia Forte Koup was supposed to be a more fun, sportier model for the Forte lineup, but buyers naturally chose the sedan over the coupe. Unfortunately the small coupe segment has dwindled down to barely anything with the recent departure of the Scion tC as well. This basically leaves the Honda Civic Coupe as the only real option if you want a small, cheap front-wheel drive coupe before you have to step up to something like a Toyota 86 or Ford Mustang.

There’s still time to find a 2016 Kia Forte Koup, since a quick search on Cars.com reveals that there are at least 800 still sitting on dealer lots around the country.
